Job Description

Motoring Coffee SF is looking to add an Experienced Barista to our team. We are seeking a candidates who is well-versed in the art of coffee, passionate about creating a positive customer experience, and can maintain cleanliness standards of a food handling facility.

Please note that you are applying for a part-time/fill-in position with 12 hours guaranteed per week. Hired will have the ability to pick up additional available/open shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service

• Greet all customers with excitement and energy
• Get to know our repeat customers and their usual orders
• Coach customers through our menu when they are undecided on what they'd like to order

Coffee & Bar Operations

• Dial in the house blend, decaf, and rotating roasts on opening shifts
• Develop and finalize espresso recipes that meet tasting notes and quality standards
• Record approved recipes on hoppers using chalk marker
• Program machine volumetrics and set burr distance targets
• Actively work bar, crafting drinks with consistency, precision, and care

Quality Control

• Ensure all beverages meet Motoring Coffee quality standards
• Monitor and maintain a high level of customer experience

Merchandising

• Ensure merchandise areas are clean, organized, and well-stocked

Facility Standards

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all customer-facing and back-of-house areas

Incident Management

• Handle incidents calmly and professionally
• De-escalate conflicts while prioritizing guest and staff safety

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of specialty coffee and hospitality experience
• Proficiency in milk texturing and latte art
• Knowledge of tasting notes and SCAA standards (ie. Coffee Flavor Tasting Wheel)
• A ANSI-recognized food handler's card
• A thorough understanding of Square POS, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs
• Demonstrated appreciation for and connection to the City of San Francisco
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as business needs require
