Job Description

job summary:

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Our client is a premier, privately held organization specializing in the global wholesale distribution and import/export of agricultural and industrial essentials.

We are seeking a CFO who thrives in a private-ownership environment-someone who values direct impact, rapid decision-making, and the opportunity to be a true strategic partner to the CEO without the noise of public quarterly earnings calls.

As the CFO, you will be the primary architect of our financial strategy. You will ensure financial integrity across our global footprint, overseeing all Treasury, Accounting, and risk management functions. This is a "hands-on" leadership role where you will mentor a dedicated team and drive the financial health of a working-capital-intensive business.

location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
job type: Permanent
salary: $250,000 - 375,000 per year
work hours: 9 to 5
education: Bachelor's degree
experience: 10 Years

responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct all monthly and year-end closing processes, consolidated international reporting, and GAAP compliance.
  • Lead the company's foreign exchange strategy (hedging) and manage global banking relationships, including credit facilities.
  • Oversee trade finance (Letters of Credit), cash flow, and working capital to support high-volume international transactions.
  • Establish robust internal controls and financial governance across all international entities.
  • Provide executive oversight for ERP transitions and ongoing digital transformation within the finance function.
  • Manage domestic and international tax compliance and lead external audits through your accounting leadership team.
qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a grounded, detail-oriented leader who enjoys being "close to the business."

  • Proven tenure as a CFO or senior finance leader (VP/Divisional CFO) within a mid-market organization.
  • Background in commodities, agriculture, chemicals, shipping, or import/export is strongly preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required; CPA and/or MBA and early-career training in a Big 4 or Tier 2 accounting firm are highly valued.
  • Deep expertise in international trade, bulk logistics, currency risk management, and ERP implementations.
  • You prefer the agility of a private company and are comfortable being a visible, active leader on-site in our Philadelphia headquarters.
This is a rare chance to lead the finances of a global player with the heart of a private firm. You will have a seat at the table to influence the company's trajectory directly, focusing on operational excellence and "just in time" delivery for a global customer base.
