This is a safety-sensitive position. Drivers are responsible for maintaining a clear mind, following all safety procedures, and protecting their own safety as well as the safety of everyone around them.
The JobWe are looking for an experienced
Class A CDL Retail Route Driver based out of
Lakeland, FL .
This is a
5-day route with an early AM start . You’ll be responsible for driving an assigned route, picking up and hauling food waste from retail locations, and making sure each stop is completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.
This is a hands-on driving job — you’ll be behind the wheel, but you’ll also be loading, unloading, cleaning containers, handling equipment, and working directly with customers.
What You'll Do• Drive company tractor-trailer equipment on assigned regional and interstate routes
• Complete approximately
15–25 stops per day , depending on the assigned route
• Load, haul, and deliver food waste from retail locations
• Operate
30–45' open-top dump trailers and combination vehicles
• Operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles in accordance with DOT requirements and applicable laws
• Use manual or electric pallet jacks as needed
• Pressure wash bins and containers and leave customer locations clean and free of debris
• Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Perform basic repairs to company bins and equipment using common hand tools
• Maintain the cleanliness and basic equipment of the truck
• Accurately complete electronic DOT driver logs
• Maintain service tickets, contamination reports, maintenance paperwork, and other required documentation
• Communicate regularly with customers, vendors, and the operations team
• Report accidents, injuries, equipment issues, and service concerns immediately
• Participate in weekly safety calls, training, and safety briefings
• Use a company computer and cell phone for communication, training, and expense management
Important: Routes and assignments can change based on business needs. Drivers should be prepared to work different assignments, including
interstate routes , when needed.
Schedule & Hours•
5-day workweek •
Early AM start — must be comfortable starting early • Route schedules may vary based on business needs and seasonality
• Flexible availability is required
• During busy periods, drivers may work up to
60 hours in a 7-day week or 70 hours in 8 days , in accordance with applicable regulations
What You Need•
Valid Class A CDL • Self-certified as a
Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance
• Clean
MVR and PSP • At least
23 years old with 2 years of full-time, verifiable tractor-trailer experience , OR
• At least
21 years old with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience if you are a graduate of a truck driving school or have 1 year of military experience
• Stable work history
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Strong safety record and willingness to follow DOT and company safety requirements
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Able to work independently and stay on schedule
Physical RequirementsThis is an active, hands-on driving position. You should be comfortable with:
• Lifting, pulling, and pushing up to
70 pounds • Pulling/rolling totes weighing up to
300 pounds • Bending, stooping, twisting, shoveling, and reaching overhead
• Working around food waste and unpleasant odors
• Working outside in
all weather conditions • Getting in and out of the truck and working around equipment throughout the day
